“In a successful painting, everything is integral – all parts belong to
the whole, and the entire arrangement of the composition is
essential.”

During his prolific career, which spans almost six decades, London-
based artist Arnold Dobbs has built an extensive body of work. His
paintings are mainly abstractions, some figurative pieces, sculpture, and
prints.
The work in this exhibition mainly spans the previous five years. It
focuses on abstract paintings with a strong use of colour and expressive imagery. His work is intuitive, expressionistic, and emotional. In his approach, he hopes to evoke sensations, ideas, and associations in the viewer, including a sense of harmony and balance.
He has work in collections worldwide. Several of his paintings are
included in The Goldsmith College Permanent Collection and are
catalogued by the Public Catalogue Foundation of Oil Paintings in Public Ownership.
Throughout his career, he has exhibited in solo and group shows,
including galleries in London and the UK, Den Hagg in the Netherlands, and Santa Barbara and New York, USA.
Arnold continues creating work in his studio at APT (Art in Perpetuity Trust) in Deptford, SE London
